About Proven Winners®: Proven Winners® ColorChoice Shrubs offers flowering shrubs, evergreens, and trees that have been tested for eight to ten years to ensure they outperform conventional varieties. That means bigger flowers, more colorful foliage, reblooming, disease resistance, new habits, or anything that makes them more beautiful and easier to grow in your landscape or garden. Planting & Care 1. Planting: Choose a spot with well-draining soil and partial to full sun exposure for optimal growth. Dig a hole that’s twice as wide as the root ball and just as deep. Place the shrub in the hole and backfill lightly, ensuring the top of the root ball is level with the soil surface. 2. Watering: Water deeply once a week during dry spells, especially during the first year after planting. After establishment, the plant is quite drought-tolerant but appreciates regular moisture. 3. Pruning: Prune in late winter or early spring to encourage healthy growth and maintain the desirable compact form. Remove any dead or damaged stems to keep the shrub looking tidy. 4. Fertilizing: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring to promote vigorous blooming. Avoid over-fertilizing, as this can lead to lush foliage at the expense of flowers.
