Timothy Seed

Timothy is a hardy, bunch-type grass well-suited for cooler climates. It is primarily used in mixes with red clover and is known for its good disease resistance. While Timothy can be grazed, it requires long rest periods and a rotational grazing system for maximum productivity and persistence. It has low tolerance for traffic and is not well-suited to drought or heat-prone areas. Benefits Hardy Bunch-Grass: Very hardy, making it a reliable option in appropriate climates. Disease Resistance: Exhibits good disease resistance, contributing to its durability. Cool Climate Adaptation: Best adapted to cooler climates, ensuring optimal growth and productivity in such regions. Characteristics Type: Cool season perennial. Growth Habit: Bunch-type grass, which grows in tight clumps. Planting Instructions Seeding Rate: Seed at 8-10 lbs/acre when planted alone, and 2-4 lbs/acre when used in mixes. Planting Range: Early spring to late summer for optimal establishment. Grazing Management: Requires long rest periods and a rotational grazing system to maintain productivity and persistence. Timothy grass is a very hardy bunch-grass that is best adapted to cooler climates. It is typically mixed with red clover and provides excellent forage quality. Its good disease resistance and reliable growth make it a valuable addition to any forage program, particularly in cooler regions.
