Time & Temperature

Time & Temperature is Tandem Coffee Roasters' effervescent signature espresso blend—a bright, electric expression of joy that's become a staple in Portland cafés and home espresso setups alike. This isn't a heavy, syrupy shot. It's crisp, punchy, and versatile enough to shine as drip coffee when you're not pulling shots. Tandem roasts this blend to celebrate acidity and sweetness in balance, creating something that feels alive in the cup. Tasting NotesExpect vibrant citrus acidity—think Meyer lemon and tangerine—backed by a rounded sweetness that recalls honey and brown sugar. The body is medium and silky, never heavy, with a clean finish that invites another sip. There's a subtle floral note that emerges as the cup cools, adding complexity without overwhelming the brightness. This is a coffee that wakes you up in the best way possible. Brew MethodsTime & Temperature was designed for espresso, where its acidity cuts through milk beautifully in cappuccinos and lattes while holding its own as a straight shot. But it's equally excellent as pour-over or drip coffee—the bright, structured profile translates wonderfully to filter methods. For espresso, aim for a 1:2 to 1:2.5 ratio with water around 200°F. For drip or pour-over, a medium grind and standard ratios (1:16) work beautifully. French press drinkers will find it a bit too lively, but cold brew enthusiasts should give it a try for a refreshing, tea-like result. About the RoasterTandem Coffee Roasters has been a cornerstone of Portland's specialty coffee scene since 2012, roasting small batches with precision and sourcing directly from producers whenever possible. Their commitment to transparency and quality is evident in every bag. Not sure about grind size or which espresso machine pairs best with a blend this bright?
