Tillandsia aeranthos ‘Miniata Mini Me’

Discover the magic of miniature with the Tillandsia aeranthos ‘Miniata Mini Me’. This diminutive marvel is a rare, compact cultivar of the already petite Tillandsia aeranthos, hailing from South America. It is a horticultural triumph in selective breeding, pushing the boundaries of miniaturization in the Tillandsia genus while maintaining the charm and vigor of its larger relatives. ‘Miniata Mini Me’ forms a striking spherical shape of vivid lime-green, thin, needle-like leaves that radiate outward in all directions. Its dense growth and uniform coloration give it an almost surreal, sculpted quality, reminiscent of a sea urchin or a botanical firework. It is even smaller than the already compact ‘Miniata’ form (5-6 cm in diameter), with individual plants measuring only about 2.5-4 cm across. This cultivar is a prolific grower, producing offsets year-round to form dense, attractive clumps that can reach over 20 cm. It rarely flowers, but instead focuses its energy on creating a lush, moss-like appearance. Care Instructions: Provide bright, indirect light for optimal growth. A spot with partial shade to bright shade is ideal. Mist or dunk the plant 2-3 times a week, allowing it to dry completely between waterings. Monthly soaking in rainwater or filtered water is beneficial. This cultivar is more sensitive to dryness than the standard species, so ensure consistent moisture.
