Tibetan Brass Phurba Ritual Dagger with Dharmapala Deities – Triple-Blade Vajra Form

This Tibetan brass phurba (ritual dagger) is a finely cast ceremonial object that features a highly detailed figural pommel depicting three wrathful Dharmapala protector deities, rendered in high relief with expressive faces and traditional iconography. The handle is formed as a dorje (vajra), symbolic of indestructibility and spiritual power, transitioning seamlessly into a tapered triple-blade, which emerges from the open mouth of a stylized horned beast. The piece shows consistent patination across the brass surface, with wear appropriate to age and ritual handling. Phurbas hold deep significance within Tibetan Buddhism, particularly in Vajrayana and tantric practices, where they are used as ritual implements rather than weapons. Symbolically, the phurba is employed to subdue negative energies, obstacles, and malevolent spirits, “pinning” them in place through ritual invocation. The triple-bladed form represents the transformation of the Three Poisons, ignorance, attachment, and aversion, into wisdom. Dharmapala deities, depicted on this example, serve as fierce protectors of Buddhist teachings, reinforcing the dagger’s role as a spiritual tool of protection, balance, and authority rather than violence. This is an outstanding example of a traditional Tibetan ritual object, combining strong iconography, weighty presence, and visual drama. Pieces of this caliber are highly sought after by collectors of Himalayan art, ritual weapons, and religious antiquities, offering both historical depth and striking display appeal. Whether placed within a curated collection or exhibited as a standalone artifact, this phurba represents a powerful convergence of artistry, belief, and symbolism—an exceptional opportunity to acquire an authentic and evocative piece of Tibetan religious culture. Dimensions: This dagger measures approximately 10.75 inches in height, with a width and depth of 1.75 inches, and a total weight of approximately 1.25 pounds. CC#QT0001
