Raw metal and raw brass finishes are left untreated for an industrial look — expect natural color variation, and know that they'll oxidize and tarnish over time. Want a different look? Buff and polish raw brass, or sand and paint raw metal to your liking. Frequently Asked Questions Is a 1⅝" shade opening the same as a "Euro fitter"? Yes — Euro fitter is the common industry term for this 1⅝" opening size, which is what our Shade-Ready shades and this thread cover are built for. How do I know if my shade will fit? Measure your shade's opening and compare it to the 1⅝" Euro fitter size. Still not sure? Check out our Shade Compatibility video for a walkthrough. Does adding this cover affect how I wire the socket? No — it's a cosmetic add-on that slips over the threads after the socket is wired. For a full walkthrough of wiring and assembling Color Cord sockets, check out our socket wiring guide.
