Thorne Beta Alanine-SR

Beta Alanine-SR Beta Alanine-SR is NSF Certified for Sport® and the PureTab® sustained-release delivery system minimizes tingling sensations and maximizes absorption.* Because acidity is a major contributor to muscle fatigue, the presence of carnosine helps maintain a normal pH in muscles by buffering the hydrogen ions created when muscles generate energy.* Thorne's Beta Alanine-SR is required to create carnosine.* Supplementing with beta alanine will support muscle health, muscle work capacity, and perceived time-to-exhaustion in anaerobic exercise that lasts 1-4 minutes and aerobic exercise that lasts longer than four minutes.* Carnosine's absorption is poor, and tends to be lower in females and in individuals who limit animal protein in their diet. Sustained-release beta-alanine supplementation, such as Thorne's Beta Alanine-SR, has been shown to increase carnosine concentrations in the muscle.* Beta-alanine has been shown to benefit athletic performance.* For example, studies show improvements in fatigue in cyclists, in 2,000-meter rowing time trials, in strength in college football players, and in sprint performance in endurance cyclists.* Increasing the level of carnosine also provides an antioxidant effect by limiting the accumulation of free radicals from oxidation of lipid membranes.* The PureTab® sustained-release delivery system minimizes the tingling sensations and poor absorption associated with consuming non-sustained release beta-alanine above 800 mg. Because an athlete needs to know that his or her supplements are trustworthy and compliant, every batch of an NSF Certified for Sport® product is tested for compliance with label claims and to ensure the absence of more than 200 substances banned by many major athletic organizations, including stimulants, narcotics, steroids, diuretics, beta-2 agonists, and masking agents. How to Use Take 2 tablets one to two times daily or as recommended by your health professional. Thorne Verified Gluten free. Dairy free. Soy free. Key Ingredients Beta-Alanine Ingredient Amounts Serving Size: 2 Tablets Servings Per Container: 60 Beta-Alanine: 1.6g Other Ingredients: Corn Starch, Dicalcium Phosphate, Hydroxypropyl Cellulose, Hypromellose, Rice Extract, Silicon Dioxide What is beta-alanine? Beta-alanine is a naturally occurring amino acid and is the rate-limiting precursor of the dipeptide, carnosine, which is comprised of beta-alanine and histidine. Carnosine is found in high concentrations in the muscles and brain, and helps buffer hydrogen ions (acid) created during energy production.* This buffering helps maintain a normal muscle pH, decreasing acidity – a major cause of muscle fatigue.* Beta-alanine exerts its effects by increasing carnosine levels.* Why not supplement with carnosine? beta-alanine supplementation has been shown to increase carnosine concentrations in the muscle.* What are the benefits of beta-alanine supplementation? Supplementation with beta-alanine supports muscle health, muscle work capacity, and perceived time-to-exhaustion in anaerobic exercise lasting one to four minutes and aerobic exercise lasting greater than four minutes.* Beta-alanine can benefit athletic performance.* For example, studies have shown improvements in fatigue in cyclists, 2,000-meter rowing time trials, strength in college football athletes, and sprint performance in endurance cyclists.* Beta-alanine: Supports the buffering capacity of muscles* Increases carnosine levels in muscles* Provides antioxidant support* Helps maintain and promote muscle endurance and power output* Helps improve time-to-failure during aerobic and anaerobic exercise* PureTabTM sustained-release delivery maximizes benefits while minimizing potential tingling* Carnosine also has a role as an antioxidant, limiting the accumulation of free radicals from oxidation of lipid membranes.* Why PureTabTM sustained-release delivery? Taking more than 800 mg of a non-sustained release beta-alanine can result in tingling sensations. The PureTabTM sustained-release delivery system minimizes this possible side effect. PureTab caplets are easy to swallow and don’t contain the typical binders found in most tableted products. Plus, this sustained-release delivery is the formulation that has been used in numerous clinical trials.
