Founded in 1922 by J.P. and Bill McElwain in Worcester, Massachusetts, the brand initially set its sights on producing affordable yet high-quality shoes for the average American. Thom McAn quickly became synonymous with dependable footwear that didn't break the bank. Throughout the decades, the brand remained committed to delivering a blend of style and comfort. The construction of Thom McAn shoes was a testament to the brand's dedication to quality. They often employed Goodyear welt techniques, a method renowned for its durability and the ability to resole the shoe multiple times. This method ensured longevity, reflecting the brand's commitment to sustainable craftsmanship. The components were also of note. Thom McAn used genuine leather uppers in many of its designs, ensuring breath-ability, comfort, and a refined appearance.
