This Time They Hear You

This Time They Hear You is a delightful collection of science-inspired fairytales from the third-grade authors at Bridges Public Charter School, featuring illustrations from scores of local artists and a foreword from author Minh Lê. Building on what they have been studying in their science classroom—from climate and ecosystems to flora and fauna—the young authors use traditional fairytale structures from around the globe to both reimagine their surroundings and to ask some unlikely questions, like: What if daffodils could talk and asked us for help? What should a coconut tree do when facing a bully? How could a cactus get close to a friend? This book teaches us that the world we live in can be even more colorful, empathetic, silly, and beautiful—we just have to listen.
