Thin French Link Nelson Gag

The Thin French Link Nelson Gag Bit combines a slimmer mouthpiece with a French link for more direct pressure while maintaining even distribution across the tongue and bars. The thinner mouthpiece delivers stronger, more concentrated contact than thicker designs, while the French link reduces nutcracker action for improved comfort. The extended Nelson gag cheeks provide both the lifting effect of a gag and the guiding action of full cheeks, offering stability and directional control. Key Features of the Thin Mouthpiece : More concentrated contact : The thinner design focuses pressure on the tongue and bars, creating a sharper action. Better fit in crowded mouths : Leaves more room for horses with fleshy tongues or low palates where thicker bits feel tight. Reduces leaning : Used to address contact issues in horses that brace or become strong. French Link Features : Even Pressure Distribution : The French link’s central plate lies flat on the tongue, evenly distributing pressure across the tongue and bars, without the nutcracker effect seen in single-jointed bits. Independent Movement : The double-jointed structure allows each side of the bit to move independently, giving the rider finer control and reducing pressure points for greater comfort. Encourages Relaxation : The French link’s gentle action makes it easier for horses to accept the bit, promoting a relaxed and responsive connection between horse and rider. Nelson Gag Design Features : Added Lift and Stability : The gag action applies upward pressure, encouraging the horse to lift its head, making it ideal for horses that tend to lean on the bit. Full Cheek Control : The full cheek design prevents the bit from sliding through the horse’s mouth, providing lateral stability and better guidance, especially during turns. Dual Rein Option : The Nelson Gag can be used with two reins, allowing riders to adjust between the gag and snaffle rein for more refined communication and flexibility.
