The slats go through a chemical-free heat process that permanently increases their resistance to moisture, warping, and decay — significantly more durable than standard outdoor lumber. Both materials are designed for permanent outdoor installation year-round. No finish is required on either material; the cedar will gradually weather to silver-grey if left untreated, or hold its warm tone with a penetrating oil applied every few years.
