I drink the moon, by Aspen Duscha

Poetry, chapbook, 20 pages, from Bottlecap Features. I drink the moon is a collection of poetry that uses detailed but concise sensory description. The detailed, concise sensory description not only paints a picture for the reader but directly puts them into the moment. Seven years of different experiences are all gathered in a single collection. Despite consisting of seven years worth of experiences, I drink the moon is a small, easy to digest collection. Poems in I drink the moon deal with a wide range of subjects despite the overarching connection throughout the collection being my travels throughout the United States. “Pride” is a recollection of my first time seeing a city full of pride flags in a time when they were less common. “ Under the silhouette of rain” recounts a memory of chickens chasing after their quarry. “Apparitions” is about an unexpected encounter in a place being swallowed by the city. Aspen is a neurodivergent poet and former dog groomer. They currently live in Kentucky and have lived in Kentucky for the past seven years. Aspen's poems have appeared in Marias at Sampaguitas, Periwinkle Pelican and Kettle Cooked. Aspen often finds inspiration for poetry in nature, namely from animals and the landscape. Aspen is an avid animal lover. Their favourite animal is the rabbit.
