The View 3

The View 3 An Original Acrylic Painting The Electric Pulse of Dusk. A painting should be more than a surface: it should be a threshold that invites you to look through. In "The View 3," Kevin Cross continues his "Window" series with a palette that captures the sophisticated, cinematic glow of a city transitioning into night. The luminous peachy horizon and hazy lavender sky evoke the fleeting view from a high-rise at sunset: a quiet threshold peering into the vibrant, atmospheric memory of a metropolitan dusk. This work, the third in a series of five, functions as a visual doorway that encourages the collector to pause, breathe, and step into a space of quiet, rhythmic stillness. The Mastery of Value and Rhythm. Based in New York City and trained at Hunter College, Kevin’s practice is defined by a rigorous focus on the architecture of light. By prioritizing the structural relationship between tone and value, he moves beyond conventional color application to a practice of feeling the weight of a painting as pure rhythm. Guided by the steady, repetitive pulses of minimal electronic music, Kevin builds his gradients with a slow, methodical discipline. In "The View 3," the tension between the fluid, warm atmospheric center and the crisp window frame creates a quiet energy. This 30x36 work on foam backed canvas is a testament to the raw honesty of a process where light is treated as a physical presence rather than a simple pigment.
