The VAL FLEURY Customized Levi’s Denim Jacket

On first glance, it's just a standard, genuine Levi Strauss denim jacket in mint condition. But the bedazzled VAL FLEURY on the back tells a different story: This is a custom piece with a history. Château du Val Fleury, near Paris, France, is renowned for its art installations and exhibits. Not coincidentally, it was also the inspiration for Los Angeles-based Liberian DJ and designer Val Fleury. She was also inspired by the time she spent in the small town in the French Alps called Valfleury (which in France is a commune... but it's just a tiny town, not what Americans would think of as a commune). I met Val Fleury the DJ, and heard the story of this piece she designed, at her lawn sale in Venice, California, in 2022. Immediately, I was floored by her stories about France and the jacket's lore. She was selling things to head off on her next international adventure, living a wild artist's life that sounds almost like a Bohemian dream.
