The Ultimate Challenge by Chris Bonington (1973)

This book describes an unsuccessful 1972 attempt on the South West face of Everest. Bonington and his team would later return in 1975 and complete the ascent, as told in the book Everest: The Hard Way. In 1988 a four-man Slovak team made the first repeat of the route in alpine style, but tragically, all four perished on the descent. Hardcover, 352 pages with full-page color and b&w photographs throughout. Book without flaw; dust jacket in excellent condition, protected in mylar brodart and not price-clipped.
