Now for the first time ever, Severin Films brings together a quartet of classics by “The Indonesian Master of Horror” (Bloody Disgusting) Joko Anwar: Anwar’s global breakthrough SATAN’S SLAVES redefined Indonesian cinema and remains a modern horror milestone. Far more than just a sequel, SATAN’S SLAVES 2: COMMUNION is an over-the-top and wickedly grisly haunted house masterpiece. IMPETIGORE, his love letter to the genre, shattered taboos and shocked international audiences like never before. And with the neo-noir hit DEAD TIME, Anwar merges supernatural folklore with contemporary terrors to craft a visually stunning nightmare. All four films are presented from masters approved by Anwar, with over 10 combined hours of Special Features produced exclusively for this collection. Disc 1: SATAN’S SLAVES (2017) For his 2017 breakthrough, Joko Anwar took the 1980 classic by Sisworo Gautama Putra and reinvented its themes of supernatural folklore to deliver an “extraordinary” (Malevolent Dark), “take-no-prisoners” (Slash Film), “deliciously creepy spectacle oozing with Satanic inspiration” (Dread Central) that shattered box-office records and single-handedly launched The New Golden Age of Indonesian Horror: When the matriarch of a struggling family dies after a mysterious illness, it will unlock a slow-burning nightmare of ancestral superstition, occult carnage and several of the most “gloriously crafted scares” (Warped Perspective) in modern horror history. Tara Basro (IMPETIGORE) and Bront Palarae (GHOST IN THE CELL) star in “one of the best remakes of the last decade” (Horror News) and “a nerve-jangling good time where the mayhem hardly lets up” (Daily Dead), now presented from a master approved by the writer/director with over 2 hours of Special Features. SATAN’S SLAVES stars Tara Basro, Endy Arfian, Nasar Anuz, Bront Palarae, Egi Fedly and Ayu Laksmi return for “a wickedly malevolent slice of Indonesian horror that’s right on in its razor-toothed execution” (Slash Film), now presented from a master approved by the writer/director with 3 hours of new Special Features. Fachry Albar (THE FORBIDDEN DOOR) and Ario Bayu (IMPETIGORE) star in this “strange, unpredictable and beautiful film that will take you for quite a ride” (Screen Anarchy) – also known as KALA – now presented from a scan approved by the writer/director with over 2 hours of new Special Features.
