The Still Crossing (Open Edition)

The StoryA panoramic long-exposure twilight photograph of the Governor Thomas Johnson Memorial Bridge with glass-smooth water, warm sunset glow transitioning to cool blue, and red bridge light reflections. The LocationThe Governor Thomas Johnson Memorial Bridge spans the Patuxent River at Solomons Island, connecting Calvert and St. Mary's counties. For locals, it's more than infrastructure — it's a daily landmark, the threshold between home and away, framed by some of the most dramatic skies on the western shore. Artist's Perspective"This was a January evening — bare trees, cold air, and that particular blue-hour light that only happens in winter. The long exposure smoothed the water into glass, and the red bridge lights became the only warm element in the frame. I wanted the image to feel as still as the night actually was." — Ryan Lott Curator's RecommendationThe panoramic format makes this piece ideal for wide wall spaces, above a sofa or credenza.
