The Small Hours

An Edit for the two-in-the-morning hours. The middle-of-the-night hours have a specific shape. The chair you've chosen, in the room you've ended up in. The one hand free, because the other is holding the baby. The water bottle you wish you'd brought before you sat down. The lip balm you forgot was in the drawer two rooms away. The six pieces here are the things you'd want within reach before you sat down, the things the recipient won't have to get up for. Made for one-handed use, in the dark, at the hour when most of the world is asleep. What's inside HATCH Nipple+Lip, a single balm for the two parts of her body that need it most, in a tube small enough to live in the chair beside her. Slip Pure Silk Pillowcase, Caramel Queen, for the side of her face that spends more time on the pillow now than ever. Silk for skin, hair, and the moments she actually does get to sleep. Kate McLeod Mama Stone, solid body moisturizer. No bottle, no pump. Warmed in one hand and applied with the same hand. The object designed for exactly this moment. Bkr JAMES 250ml Glass Water Bottle, small enough for one hand, glass so the water doesn't taste like plastic at three in the morning. The bottle she'll actually drink from. Le Lolo Breastfeeding Reminder Scrunchie, worn on the wrist of the side she last fed from. The small object that solves the problem of remembering which side comes next when she's barely awake. Milk & Honey Babies Organic Egyptian Cotton Burp Cloths, Set of Four, GOTS-certified, the four cloths she'll keep within reach of every chair and every shoulder for the first eighteen months. Why we built it The Small Hours is the Edit we built for the gifter who has been through it themselves. The mother of the new mother. The older sister. The friend whose own baby is now two. The gifter who knows that the most useful gift in the first weeks isn't the one that looks beautiful in a photo, it's the one made of small, specific objects that solve small, specific problems she hasn't thought to name yet. Six pieces, each chosen for the chair, the dark, and the one hand free. Sizing and selection The Slip pillowcase is the Caramel Queen, chosen rather than selectable because the warm neutral tone reads as bedroom-appropriate rather than baby-coded. The Kate McLeod Mama Stone is the original mama formulation with marula and cocoa butter. The HATCH Nipple+Lip is one tube, both uses, nursing-safe.
