The Scarecrows Will Watch Over Us by Grant Wamack - GODLESS DEBUT

On an aging farm deep in rural Wisconsin, scarecrows loom—crooked, rotting, and alive with something ancient. Locals whisper that they’re more than decoration, that old magic runs through their stitched-up frames, keeping a dangerous force at bay. They say the scarecrows keep something out. Something feral. Something seductive. Something catlike. Jaylen, a desperate real estate agent willing to do anything to sell the farm, willfully ignores every warning about the cat women that watch from the woods. To him, the Hollis farm isn’t haunted ground—it’s commission. But when a teenage girl goes missing from the property, Jaylen’s greed sets off a chain of blood and sex and violence that no contract can close. As blood rites flare and guttural growls ripple through the trees, the forest stirs—ancient and hungry. From the author of God’s Leftovers & Bullet Tooth, comes a new chilling fusion of folk horror and cryptid myth. The Scarecrows Watch Over Us—Dog Soldiers meets Cat People—where every shadow may have claws and every scarecrow may be the only thing standing between you and the dark.
