The Runner, by Techniglass, is the most sophisticated set of running pliers available on the market. These running pliers can be used to accurately break stained glass along straight or curved scores, including normally impossible shapes like semi-circles and rings. The pliers have a directional knob on the jaws which can be turned to match the score path. Gently working the plier along the score lets you break the glass along complex scores that ordinary running pliers are incapable of snapping. THE RUNNER advanced running pliers can be used on stained glass up to 6mm thick easily snaps both straight and curved scores weighs only 10oz (normal running pliers are 11oz) comfortable handles jaw depth 1.5 inches (38mm) Scoring Stained Glass To use The Runner, you need to have a stained glass scoring tool. We carry multiple varieties in our stained glass tools category. Any of the “cutter” tools listed there can be used to make scores in stained glass that The Runner can snap. They have a tiny wheel which you roll across the glass. With the appropriate amount of pressure, they leave a score line that can be snapped with running pliers. Safety Glasses Always wear safety glasses with side shields when working on stained glass. Make sure that you don’t work glass around people not wearing safety glasses. Flying chips could potentially hit their eyes as easily as yours. Slivers and Surfaces Be aware that scoring, cutting, breaking, and filing glass can produce tiny slivers that are surprisingly sharp. Never sweep off a work surface with your bare hand. This is how most cuts happen in the studio (seriously). Use a vacuum or counter brush instead. Hold The Edger over a trash can or dust collector instead of over your work surface.
