The Royal Mail Weekender

Bristol, 1825. The London Mail arrives. A Royal Mail coach pulls up in front of the Post Office on Corn Street. The arrival of the mail—a daily event met with great commotion and the bustle of passengers and porters, parcels and post, horses and onlookers. And one curious dog who doesn’t want to miss any of it. Somewhere in all of it, bags of letters and the news contained within them. Declarations of love. Everyday business. Ink and paper, folded and sealed (this was before envelopes) into tidy rectangles of anticipation. Designed as a spacious carryall, roomy enough for a weekend away, the bag has the substantial look and feel of canvas, but is made from a more durable fabric designed to stand up to years and years of use.
