Capturing the quiet, holy silence of Holy Saturday, this breathtaking sculpture depicts the lifeless form of Jesus Christ resting peacefully upon His burial shroud immediately following the Crucifixion. Every anatomical detail—from the delicate crown of thorns resting on His head to the prominent wounds on His hands, feet, and side—radiates deep emotional resonance. It serves as an incredibly powerful centerpiece for a home altar, a prayer corner, a Lenten display, or as a deeply comforting and spiritual gift for loved ones. The Perfect Fusion of Tradition and Technology: While capturing the smooth, heavy, and sophisticated look of traditional hand-carved marble or historical cathedral plaster, this statue is newly crafted using Apex3DLabs’ state-of-the-art 3D printing technology. This ensures millimeter-precise details—faithfully rendering the natural folds of the draped linens, the texture of the tomb bed, and Christ's serene expression—resulting in a lightweight, shatter-resistant work of sacred art built to last for generations. ✨ Key Features Anatomical & Fabric Realism: Exceptionally crisp details highlight Christ's serene facial features, the textured crown of thorns, the sacred wounds of the Passion, and the heavy, realistic drapery of the burial shroud. The iconography of this sculpture is deeply rooted in centuries of biblical history and classical European art: The Biblical Narrative (The Holy Sepulcher): The foundational inspiration for this piece comes directly from the Gospel accounts of Jesus' burial. It captures the moment Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus took the body of Jesus, wrapped it in clean linen shroud, and laid it in a tomb hewn out of stone, as recorded in Luke (23:52-53) and John (19:40-42). The Baroque "Cristo Yacente" Tradition: This horizontal layout is a direct homage to the famous 17th-century Cristo Yacente (Supine or Recumbent Christ) polychrome masterpieces by Spanish Baroque sculptors, most notably Gregorio Fernández. These sculptures were deliberately crafted to evoke quiet contemplation, helping the faithful meditate deeply on Christ's self-emptying love (kenosis). The Sacred Shroud of Turin Realism: The design highlights the profound simplicity of the burial shroud. The sharp, detailed texture of the stone-brick tomb structure is beautifully contrasted against the soft, flowing lines of the draped linen sheets supporting Christ's body, demonstrating the extraordinary precision of modern 3D crafting.
