The Raiders

Frank McCarthy’s Western art is a tapestry of the grand action, landscape and everyday drama that forged the Plains Indian way of life. This over-sized MasterWork Canvas, four feet in length, delivers that Western experience at an expansive Western experience size. McCarthy could build a sense of tension in any painting. To the Plains Indian, the horse was life. They were as well guarded as any prize could be and just as sought after. Here, following a successful raid, every warrior pensively scans the horizon for any sign of pursuit as they make their trek home through hostile territory.
