Chromosome Chorus

Chromosome Chorus is a bold, rhythmic abstract painting inspired by the complexity and beauty hidden within our DNA — especially the stories shaped by rare genetic conditions like SCN2A, ODLURO, and CF. Each line and color represents a voice in the chorus: the unexpected variations, the scientific mysteries, the medical questions, and the echoes of hope that carry families forward. Splashes of white scatter across the surface like tiny signals — the moments of clarity, connection, and courage that appear even in the hardest chapters. Layer by layer, the painting reflects how every chromosome tells a story, and how no two paths look the same. Created for families who know what it means to fight for answers, to navigate rarity, and to hold onto love through every twist and turn. Chromosome Chorus is a reminder that even in complexity, there is rhythm, meaning, and an unbreakable strength woven into who we are. An original 5x7 acrylic painting on canvas panel matted on 8x10 frame matting. Textured, layered mark-making with expressive color.  One-of-a-kind artwork by Kathryn Shields, Varnished for protection and long-lasting vibrancy, Ready to hang Signed on the back
