The MBSR Online Course

The Definitive Program for Relieving Stress and Building Resilience Against the Innate Challenges of Life  In the 21st century, the mental and physical benefits of mindfulness meditation are well researched and widely documented. But in 1979, this wasn’t the case—and that’s why it was so revolutionary when Jon Kabat-Zinn founded the Stress Reduction Clinic at the University of Massachusetts in that year. Since then, the clinic’s Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program has helped thousands of people increase their self-esteem, build resilience to setbacks, change stress into enthusiasm, and even decrease pain levels from chronic conditions. The MBSR Online Course is the only complete online training in MBSR and follows the same well-respected method taught at the UMass Medical Center for Mindfulness. This eight-week course offers the core curriculum and methodology of MBSR as taught by Dr. Saki Santorelli (former director of the Center for Mindfulness) and senior instructor Florence Meleo-Meyer. Mindfulness is a way of learning to relate directly to whatever is happening in your life without attachment or judgment—a practice that can help you consciously and systematically work with your own stress, pain, illness, and everyday challenges. Nearly three decades of scientific research at medical centers all over the world suggest that training in mindfulness and MBSR can profoundly affect participants’ ability to reduce medical symptoms and psychological distress while learning to live life more fully. The MBSR Online Course consists of eight weekly classes and one daylong class. This highly participatory, practical course includes: More than 16 hours of video instruction on mindfulness meditation, stretching, mindful yoga, and guidance for enhancing awareness in everyday life Four hours of guided mindfulness practice on audio A series of questions and prompts available in PDF format Completion graph to track your progress through the course “A Day of Mindfulness”—a daylong, self-led audio retreat to culminate your training Continuing practice emails—once a week for one year after you complete the course With The MBSR Online Course, you’ll be able to enjoy the myriad benefits of sustained mindfulness practice at your own pace and from the comfort of home.
