This is a framed graphite drawing/study for the creation of an oil painting in the 'Portraits of Wonderland' series - a series of paintings capturing the wonderful personalities of Lewis Carroll's marvelous book, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland'. From Jeff: The March Hare is pure, unfiltered Wonderland chaos—wild-eyed, unpredictable, the one who'd just as soon spill the tea as serve it with impeccable flair. For this portrait, I wanted to capture him in a rare, poised instant: not mid-rant or mid-spill, but elegantly at attention in a quiet field, tray in paw, dressed to impress, yet brimming with that barely-contained lunacy we all adore. It's the thrill of anticipation—what happens next could be the most splendidly unhinged tea service imaginable, or perhaps just the calm before the glorious storm. Either way, he's ready to pour... and so am I!
