The Lion nebula (SH 2-132) is an estimated 10,000 light years away in the Perseus arm of the Milky Way. This giant HII region is ionised by two Wolf-Rayet stars (WR 152 and WR 153), as well as OB stars in several embedded clusters. This image was shot with narrowband filters and assembled in the classic Hubble SHO palette, where the ionized Sulphur signal was mapped to red, Hydrogen to green, and Oxygen to blue.
