The Last Things

By Romano Guardini The Last Things is an outline of Christian doctrine concerning the end of time and the last events of human existence: death, resurrection, purification, the Last Judgment, and eternal life. Through the lens of materialism and scientism, eschatology is especially enigmatic, if not altogether incomprehensible. Yet Christianity reveals the true essence of humanity, and so unveils the mystery of humanity’s beginning, present, and ultimate end. Incisive and inspiring, The Last Things is a timeless reflection on the interplay of human nature and divine grace in the drama of history and salvation. * * * Romano Guardini (1885–1968) was a Catholic priest, professor, and author.
