Early skateboards were made of wood and had metal wheels. They were relatively simple in design, and there were not many tricks that could be done on them. However, skateboarding quickly gained popularity, and by the late 1960s, there were dedicated skateboard parks and competitions. Skateboards also began to evolve, with new materials and designs being introduced. In the 1970s, for example, urethane wheels were developed, which made skateboarding much smoother and more responsive. 1960s skateboards are now considered to be collectors' items. They are often made of rare woods and have unique designs. Some of the most valuable 1960s skateboards can sell for thousands of dollars.
