The Gathering Storm

5W Robert Jordan, Brandon Sanderson. New York: Tor Fantasy, 2009. First Edition. First Printing. Notes The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan is an epic fantasy saga spanning 14 books, plus a prequel, that follows the battle between Light and Shadow in a richly detailed world where time is cyclical. Central to the story is Rand al'Thor, a young man who discovers he is the Dragon Reborn—a prophesied figure destined to confront the Dark One in the Last Battle. Alongside a vast cast of characters, including Egwene, Mat, Perrin, and Nynaeve, Rand’s journey explores themes of fate, power, and sacrifice, all set against a backdrop of magic, prophecy, and political intrigue. The Gathering Storm, the 12th book in the series, was co-written by Brandon Sanderson after Jordan's death. It marks a dramatic acceleration in the narrative, as Rand grows increasingly cold and ruthless under the burden of his destiny, while Egwene struggles to reunite the fractured White Tower from within as Amyrlin. The novel delves deeply into the emotional toll of leadership and the cost of war, culminating in a pivotal moment of transformation for Rand that reignites hope for the forces of Light. It’s a tense, character-driven installment that sets the stage for the series’ climactic conclusion. Description Black hardcover with gilt lettering on the spine and original pictorial dust jacket.
