The Earth’s Long Shadow is a capture of the total lunar eclipse of November 8, 2022, when Earth passed directly between the Sun and the Moon. As sunlight filtered through Earth’s atmosphere, shorter blue wavelengths were scattered while longer red wavelengths continued onward, bathing the lunar surface in deep crimson tones. This phenomenon, commonly known as a Blood Moon, reveals Earth not as an observer, but as an active participant in the cosmic alignment and celestial geometry. Captured with high-resolution instrumentation and processed to preserve natural tonal depth and detail, the image reveals delicate surface structure within the Moon’s shadowed face, emphasizing both scale and stillness. Subtle variations in color and luminance reflect the structure and composition of Earth’s atmosphere itself, projected across nearly 240,000 miles of space. Each print is produced locally in Michigan in collaboration with a professional fine art printer using archival materials to ensure exceptional detail, depth and longevity. Available on premium metallic paper for enhanced luminosity, or as a museum quality ready-to-hang metal print. An optional CODA float mount provides a clean, frameless display that allows the artwork to visually float off the wall.
