The Dalmore Luminary No. 2 Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky 2024 Edition 16 Years 750ml

The Dalmore Luminary No. 2 2024 Edition is the second release in The Dalmore's prestigious three part Luminary Series, a groundbreaking collaboration between artisan whisky making and world class architectural design conceived in partnership with the V&A Dundee design museum. For this 2024 release, Master Whisky Maker Gregg Glass joined forces with Melodie Leung, director at the legendary Zaha Hadid Architects studio, who created a swirling sculptural presentation case inspired by a bird's eye view of the Dalmore stills and rendered in rich copper hues. This 16 year old Highland single malt was initially matured in American white oak ex bourbon casks, then finished in Graham's Tawny Port pipes and rare 30 year old Apostoles sherry casks, with the lightest delicate touch of exceptionally rare peated Dalmore spirit, a remarkable inclusion that intrigues even longtime Dalmore enthusiasts. Bottled at 48.6% ABV, of natural color, and non chill filtered to preserve the full layered character. Limited to just 20,000 bottles globally, presented in Melodie Leung's striking copper vortex case. The Luminary Series is one of the most acclaimed and collectible recent projects from The Dalmore, and the No. 2 2024 Edition is both a serious sipping whisky and a coveted collector's piece. The Luminary Series is a three part limited edition collaboration between The Dalmore and world renowned architectural design talent, conceived in partnership with V&A Dundee, Scotland's design museum. Each release pairs Dalmore's master whisky makers with a celebrated architect or designer who creates a sculptural presentation case for the whisky. This is the second release; the first was created with Kengo Kuma in 2022. Who is Melodie Leung? Melodie Leung is a director at Zaha Hadid Architects, the legendary London based architectural studio founded by the late Dame Zaha Hadid. For Luminary No. 2 she designed a swirling sculptural copper colored presentation case inspired by a bird's eye view of The Dalmore stills, evoking a vortex of warmth and texture. She also designed the rare glass sculpture housing the companion 49 year old Luminary "The Rare" 2024 Edition auctioned at Sotheby's for V&A Dundee. What casks are used? Initial maturation in American white oak ex bourbon casks, then finishing in two distinct casks: Graham's Tawny Port pipes for dark fruit and rich sweetness, and rare 30 year old Apostoles sherry casks for layered dried fruit and depth. A delicate touch of exceptionally rare peated Dalmore spirit was added to the blend, an unusual and intriguing inclusion that adds a subtle smoky thread. How limited is this release? Just 20,000 bottles were produced globally, making this a genuinely limited and highly collectible release. The presentation case alone, designed by a director at Zaha Hadid Architects, has independent collector appeal. As a numbered release in the three part Luminary Series, completists are actively collecting all three editions. How should I drink it? At 48.6% ABV non chill filtered, enjoy neat first to appreciate the full layered complexity, then add a few drops of water to open the tropical and dark fruit aromatics. This is a contemplative sipping whisky for special occasions and collector pours, not a mixing whisky. How does this compare to other Dalmore releases? The Dalmore Luminary No. 2 sits in the brand's premium limited edition tier, well above the core lineup (12, 15, 18, King Alexander III) and alongside other special releases like Cigar Malt Reserve, Port Wood Reserve, and the rare vintage and decade releases. Its limited 20,000 bottle production, architectural collaboration, and 48.6% non chill filtered bottling distinguish it as a true collector's piece. Where can I buy The Dalmore Luminary No. 2 online?
