Thank You, Everything — Written and Illustrated By Icinori, Translated from French By Emile Robert Wong

STARRED REVIEW! ★ "Told with minimal prose, Thank You, Everything opens up the world to readers in a multitude of fascinating ways, leading them on a grand adventure. Icinori use a bold yet limited color palette to create wildly stylized, dynamic illustrations. The pacing is perfect, prompting readers to appreciate small details (a bath towel, a caterpillar) while also admiring big, beautiful landscapes (a bustling city, a dark forest lit by a full moon). The narrative, translated from French by Emilie Robert Wong, is equally distinctive… This soothing yet exciting blend of art and prose will encourage young imaginations to soar. A delightful book filled with wonder and gratitude, feelings that will linger with readers."  — BookPage STARRED REVIEW! ★ "Paired with simple text made up of brief 'thank you' sentences, the story unfolds through the elegant, textured images... This is a tale that begs readers to linger and wonder about what it means to be grateful... A limited but vivid palette of primary colors simultaneously soothes with its blues and energizes with its red and yellows, creating an aesthetically pleasing, thought-provoking, and engaging experience. A whimsical, enriching, and deeply rewarding adventure in gratitude." — Kirkus Reviews “A child sets out on a fantastical journey of gratitude in this engrossing picture book. The illustrations defy characterization, with elements of geometric abstraction, neo-Impressionism, and linocut techniques all layered together in a limited palette of blue, red, and yellow… Invites children to explore the world around them with new appreciation for the extraordinary and the everyday.” — Foreword Reviews How important is gratitude?  Recent credible research has pointed to gratitude's myriad positive health effects, including greater emotional and social well-being, better sleep quality, lower depression risks, and favorable markers of cardiovascular health. An article in the Harvard Health newsletter discusses new 2024 data from the long-term Nurses' Health Study that shows that gratitude may also extend lives. What am I taking for granted that I can be thankful for? Which people in my life am I grateful for? What is the last book I read or movie, show, or social media clip I saw that I really appreciated, and why? What am I most looking forward to this week, month, and year, and why? What is the kindest thing someone has said or done lately? Similarly, a few simple actions can infuse gratitude into your days. Try regularly expressing gratitude around the dinner table with family or friends. Another well-known practice — that's perhaps becoming forgotten in this digital age — is penning thank-you notes. Writing a thank-you note or gratitude letter gets your mind to dwell on something positive for a longer period, to think more deeply about it, because you have to put it not just in words, but in writing, and it also deepens the relationship and builds that bond. Our Pigeons are the perfect stationery to use to write thank-you notes and letters. One less-recognized but valuable gratitude practice is called a "savoring exercise," which builds on aspects of mindfulness. All that's required is pausing, looking around you, and taking in and enjoying everything that's good in your current setting.  ABOUT ICINORI Who is Icinori? We opened our doors and published our first list in spring, 2003. We love books, well-told stories, and illustrations that open up the visual world and deepen a child's sense of story. We select the books that we publish with great care. We seek out those that we believe children will enjoy and that reflect an individual voice or vision. We live with the books we publish long before they go to press, and we share them within our communities. We also sleep with many books under our pillows, and we publish the ones that invade our dreams. We believe in the books we publish because they are beautiful and lively, thoughtful and full of feeling. They evince a fierce belief in the imagination, exploring the inner world as richly as the world around us. Our books explore the feelings and imaginative lives of various animal and human characters, but they also travel out into northwest Pakistan, China during the Cultural Revolution and the Levantine world during the golden age of Arab science. We have published books from authors and illustrators in Australia, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Finland, France, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Japan, Switzerland and the US. As we all know, books help children to cross all kinds of boundaries and borders long before they begin to grasp the world through actual travel and experience. We thus take as our task that of connecting young readers to the wonderfully diverse modes of expression that exist in the world, so that in the end they will feel that the whole world—with all of its wonderful, surprising and very real similarities and differences—is their home.
