TETRIX® Adafruit Proximity Sensor Adapter

Connect an Adafruit sensor with your PRIZM® controller! This adapter and the included sensor cable enables transition from the Adafruit APDS9960 Proximity, Light, RGB, and Gesture Sensor pin configuration to the PRIZM pin configuration. Sensors like Adafruit APDS9960 are useful for a variety of robotics applications and tasks such as proximity sensing that can detect distances up to about 40 centimeters; color sensing that can measure the red, green, blue (RGB) color composition of an object as well as the ambient light level in the area; and gesture sensing capabilities that can detect simple gestures such as left, right, up, down, near, and far. It’s easy to incorporate the Adafruit APDS9960 sensor into your coding lessons using the free, downloadable TETRIX® MAX Gesture Sensor Extension Activity, which follows the format of the PRIZM Programming Guide and the TETRIX Gesture Sensor Library. Extend learning with the free, downloadable Robotics Engineering Challenge. Both activities are available in the Resources section of this page. The sensor, PRIZM controller, and TETRIX set are not included.
