Terre Mêlée Small Octagonal Platter, Blue

I am so honored to partner with the exquistely-talented artisans of Tanti-Baci Ceramics, a small atelier located in the South of France in Languedoc near Nîmes and known in the region for its beautiful terre mêlée. Terre mêlée, which translates as "mixed earth," is a technique developed in 18th century France involving the blending of different colored oxidized clay and resulting in refined pieces of singular beauty. Originating in the town of Apt in the Luberon, it is also known as Aptware. The combining of clays before firing creates organic swirling patterns and represents meticulous, painstaking craftsmanship that involves hand-sculpting, sanding, and double-firing with a transparent glaze. No one piece is like the other.  Measures: 13.5" L x 9.5" W
