Terralta Reposado Tequila

Terralta Reposado Tequila strikes a refined balance between vibrant high-agave freshness and light barrel-maturity elegance — delivering crisp cooked agave character, gentle oak, and a smooth, mineral-driven finish that invites both sipping and elevated cocktails. Origins & Craftsmanship Crafted in the highlands of Jalisco by the team behind the renowned “G4” house, Terralta begins with hand-harvested, mature blue weber agave plants selected for optimal ripeness. The agaves are baked in stone or brick ovens, crushed—often with a mechanical tahona replica or steam-rollers preserving fiber integrity—and fermented using native yeast and deep-well water (~140 m/460 ft depth) to enhance minerality. According to published tasting notes, the reposado is aged 6-8 months (or around that) in American oak barrels, imparting subtly toasted oak, vanilla and caramel influences without overwhelming the agave core. Together, these craft steps deliver a high-altitude tequila with crisp agave identity, restrained oak, and mineral-driven soul. Critics Reviews Tequila aficionados and review platforms assign Terralta Reposado scores commonly in the 85-90 range (out of 100), citing it as “very well made,” “agave forward with mineral and oak detail,” and “excellent value given the balance of complexity and approachability.” Reviewers highlight its polished mouthfeel, vanilla/butterscotch oak overlay, and subtle peppery or baking-spice finish — all while maintaining agave character. Tasting Profile Nose: Bright highland cooked agave dominates with fresh vegetal notes and citrus peel, supported by light vanilla bean, caramel drizzle and a whisper of toasted oak. There is also a hint of mineral earth and leather-hide nuance. Palate: The palate opens smooth and lively, with sweet cooked agave, butterscotch, almond or hazelnut undertones, and a gentle oak-spice frame (clove, white pepper). There is a subtle mineral-saline edge and fresh citrus zest that keeps the profile clean and lively. Finish: Medium to long finish — the oak recedes so the agave sweetness and pepper/baking-spice linger, along with a faint leather-tannin character and a clean mineral fade. The finish leaves a crisp, slightly dry impression, encouraging another sip.
