A beautifully knurled handle provides an excellent grip, while the solid brass construction gives it a premium feel in hand. A ceramic bearing ensures smooth spinning, and the newly adjusted, balanced base allows for easier spins and a fast-paced Put & Take game. Each top is handcrafted and one-of-a-kind. How to play? Put & Take, or teetotum tops are used for a form of gambling that dates back to Greek and Roman times. The rules are simple: each player "antes up" and adds to the "pot" in the center of the table. Each player in turn spins the top and follows the instruction displayed (Take All, Take One, Put One, Take Two, Put Two, All Put). Every time the "pot" is empty each player must "ante up" and the game continues. PLEASE NOTE: The intention of a teetotum top is NOT to spin for extra long periods of time (or gambling-based games would take forever). If you want a spinning top that will spin for minutes at a time, check out Fiddle Foundry's Copper Spinning Top.
