Technics SL-1200GR2 Direct Drive Turntable System II

Technics SL-1200GR2 Direct Drive Turntable The first step in their cutting-edge generation of direct drive turntables featuring the revolutionary ΔΣ-Drive (Delta Sigma Drive) motor-drive circuit. This turntable sets a new standard, inviting audiophiles to savor the rich, robust sound of analog records. With a legacy dating back to the invention of the world's first direct drive turntable, Technics has relentlessly pursued sound quality improvement, culminating in the development of the ΔΣ-Drive. The ΔΣ-Drive is a breakthrough system harnessing Technics' expertise in PWM signal processing. This drive not only reduces high harmonics but also quells motor vibrations, resulting in smoother, more precise rotation and a faithful music reproduction. To achieve exceptional rigidity and vibration damping, the platter employs a two-layer construction with damping rubber applied to its entire rear surface. This innovation eliminates unwanted resonance that could affect the record, ensuring clear sound. Enhancing inertial mass and minimizing vibration, the aluminum die-cast portion's shape has been meticulously optimized. At 2.5 kg (including the rubber mat), the SL-1200GR2 platter is 0.8 kg heavier than its predecessor, the SL-1200MK5. Strengthening ribs on the platter's back surface further improve rigidity, delivering damping characteristics over twice as effective as the SL-1200MK5. The tonearm is designed for high initial-motion sensitivity, expertly tracking the record's rotation. This traditional static-balance universal S-shaped tonearm features an aluminum pipe known for its light weight and rigidity. The gimbal suspension construction and precision bearings ensure smooth tracking with a sensitivity of 5 mg or less, painstakingly assembled and adjusted by skilled Japanese artisans. Additionally, an auxiliary weight and cartridge compatibility enhance your listening experience, allowing you to match your turntable setup to your music preferences. Technics pioneered the direct drive turntable in 1970, offering unparalleled advantages such as minimal degradation in signal-to-noise ratio and long-term reliability. In 2016, they introduced the coreless direct drive motor, eliminating "cogging" issues. The SL-1200GR2 inherits this innovation with a single-rotor, surface-facing, coreless direct drive motor for flawless rotation. A low-noise switching circuit powered by a high-speed switching power supply ensures stable power delivery with minimal ripple and humming. This design eliminates the need for bulky transformers and vibration countermeasures, preserving the purity of your music playback. With a switching frequency above 100 kHz, noise interference on your music playback bandwidth is virtually eliminated. The SL-1200GR2 is the culmination of Technics' dedication to delivering the finest audio experience, inviting you to rediscover the beauty of analog sound.
