The Taylor K-1004 6-Way Test Kit is a professional-grade water testing kit designed for pool and spa owners who want fast and accurate results. With the ability to measure six key aspects of water chemistry—free chlorine, total chlorine, bromine, pH, total alkalinity, and acid demand—this kit ensures that your water remains balanced and safe. Each kit includes a durable testing block with an integrated color comparator and eight (8) individual ¾ oz reagent bottles: R-0001: DPD Reagent #1 R-0002: DPD Reagent #2 R-0003: DPD Reagent #3 R-0007: Thiosulfate N/10 R-0008: Total Alkalinity Indicator R-0009: Sulfuric Acid .12N R-0014: pH Indicator (Phenol Red) R-0015: Acid Demand Reagent Simple to use and highly reliable, the K-1004 test kit is ideal for residential pool owners, service professionals, or anyone who wants peace of mind through precision. Backed by Taylor Technologies’ legacy of excellence, this kit is a smart investment in your water care routine. Reagent Shelf Life & Storage Recommendations All reagents have a shelf life, whether they are liquids, powders, crystals, tablets, or test-strip pads. While acids, powders, and crystals are relatively stable when kept dry, shelf life is most affected by storage conditions rather than manufacturing date. To ensure the longest possible life of your Taylor reagents, follow these best practices: Store reagents consistently between 36°–85°F (2°–29°C). Avoid moving between extreme temperatures (like cold storage to a hot car). Keep reagents out of prolonged direct sunlight. (Taylor’s brown bottles help protect light-sensitive formulas.) Do not store reagents near pool treatment chemicals. Always replace caps immediately and tighten them securely to limit air and humidity exposure. Avoid cross-contamination: don’t switch bottle caps or pour reagents into other containers. Taylor formulates its reagents to be effective for at least one year under ideal conditions. As a general precaution, replace all reagents over 12 months old or at the beginning of each new testing season. One known exception is molybdenum indicator in liquid form, which should be tested against a standard after four months.
