Talema - Vintage Medallion Rug - 5'6 X 8'10

This hand-woven, one-of-a-kind rug represents Anatolian heritage through its flatwoven construction, faded patina, abrash detail, and overdyed finish. Featuring a low-pile, no-shed, high-traffic durable surface, it is layering-friendly and underfloor-heating safe. The reversible weave offers a soft-touch, distressed character with a ghost-pattern, 70s craftsmanship, cotton-polyester blend, single-piece artisanal quality, and sun-bleached tones. About This Style Vintage rugs are defined by an aesthetic that evokes an antique appearance, often utilising faded tones, abrash colour variation, and worn-look surface treatments. These pieces frequently feature a central medallion, a hallmark of classical Anatolian design where the motif is rendered in geometric forms and framed by distinct borders. Distressing techniques, including overdyeing, result in a ghost-pattern effect where original motifs remain visible beneath a saturated colour wash, reflecting the mid-20th-century tradition of small-scale village production. Where It Works The flatwoven construction makes this rug suitable for high-traffic areas such as hallways, kitchens, and living spaces. Its low-profile design is ideal for layering over larger carpets and is fully compatible with underfloor heating systems. Why Choose This Rug? — The design highlights a classic medallion motif in red and beige, showcasing the intentional sun-bleached tones and distressed character of the piece. — Constructed from a cotton and polyester blend; the cotton provides natural breathability, while the polyester adds durability and moisture resistance for everyday use. — The flatwoven construction and no-pile surface ensure the rug lies perfectly flat against the floor, minimising trip hazards and maintenance. — These rugs reference the Anatolian hand-weaving tradition; each piece is one-of-a-kind, with minor variations in colour and pattern that are characteristic of vintage-style production. — Designed to be high-traffic durable and layering-friendly, making it a practical choice for busy areas of the home.
