Tactical Fly Fishing -- Devin Olsen (Hardcover)

Devin Olsen explains how the techniques he has used to become a repeat medalist in fly fishing competitions around the world can be adapted to everyday fly fishing situations. He covers strategies, tactics, and flies for rivers, small streams, and still waters, allowing anyone to fish more successfully by applying the approaches taken by competitive anglers. Review Devin Olsen has centered his life around fly fishing. In addition to being one of the most skilled anglers I’ve met, Devin earned a Masters degree in fisheries science, is a sought-after guide, and has a relentless desire for more fishing. Olsen’s experience and thirst for knowledge are evenly matched by his expert angling. Devin has carefully crafted Tactical Fly Fishing for us to succinctly consume his knowledge and add it to our angling process. -- Lance Egan, Contributing Editor ― Fly Fisherman Successful fly fishing strategies are molded on the water through countless hours of experimenting, failures, and victories. The best anglers I've fished with posses an organized plan of attack that factors in variables including water type, bug activity, positioning, pattern choice, and casting approach—just to name a few. I can't think of a better angler than Devin Olsen, who has perfected his strategic fly fishing approach through years of fly fishing and competing for Fly Fishing Team USA, to help guide anglers of any level to perfecting their own fly fishing approach. -- George Daniel, author of Dynamic Nymphing and Strip Set About the Author Devin Olsen has been a member of Fly Fishing Team USA since 2006, winning individual bronze and team silver in the 35th FIPS Mouche World Fly Fishing Championships in Jajce, Bosnia in 2015.
