Tabernas

TABERNAS Juan Antonio Guirado (1932–2010) Tabernas 1997 Oil on cardboard 52.5 x 70.5 cm 20 2/3 x 27 3/4 in Catalog Number: JAG/P 289 – LANDS 04 Provenance Guirado Estate Collection Framing Unframed Price $8500 USD Description In Tabernas, Guirado presents a landscape defined by scale, exposure, and raw natural force. The terrain unfolds in layered formations of rock and earth, shaped by time and elemental conditions. There is a cinematic quality to the composition, where depth and distance create a sense of vastness that extends beyond the frame. The muted palette and textural surface emphasize the physicality of the land, reinforcing its presence. This is a landscape that feels experienced rather than observed — a work that captures both the beauty and severity of Andalucía’s more arid regions.
