Concealed Installation Kit for 1/2″ Square Balusters This product is used to install 1/2″ square hollow iron balusters in a concealed manner. It eliminates the need for base shoes or collars, providing a clean and professional finish. The kit includes a dowel screw and plastic insert, which work together to securely attach the baluster to the tread or floor. The screw is 2 inches long and requires a pre-drilled 3/16″ hole. Key Features: Designed for 1/2″ square hollow iron balusters. Eliminates the need for base shoes or collars. Provides a clean, concealed installation. 1/4″ Major Diameter 3/16″ Minor Diameter Installation Steps: Prepare Balusters: Ensure balusters are cut to the desired length and any burrs are removed from the cut edge. Drill Hole in Tread: Using a 3/16″ drill bit, create a hole 1-1/2″ deep in the tread at the center point where the baluster will be located.  Install Dowel Screw: Securely install the dowel screw into the drilled hole. You can use vice grips to turn the screw until the tread surface reaches the smooth center portion or utilize a power drill runner.  If you want to use a driver instead of vice grips, you would need a driver for a 3/16″ screw. (We do not sell one) Insert Plastic Insert: Slide the narrow end of the plastic insert into the bottom of the baluster until it sits flush with the baluster’s bottom edge. Attach Baluster: Carefully thread the baluster with the insert onto the dowel screw. Continue turning until the baluster makes contact with the tread/floor on all four corners and is positioned at the desired angle. Additional Considerations: This kit is specifically designed for 1/2″ square hollow iron balusters of the House of Forgings brand. Make sure the balusters are properly prepared before beginning the installation process. Exercise caution when using power tools and follow safety guidelines. Benefits: Streamlined installation process without the need for additional components. Concealed hardware for a polished and professional look. Suitable for various applications where 1/2″ square balusters are used. Remember: Always refer to the full product instructions and any provided diagrams for complete and accurate installation guidance. Disclaimer: Due to variations in the powder coating process, the ends of the balusters may require additional preparation before inserting the plastic insert. Excess powder coating could affect the fit. If necessary, trim a small portion off the baluster end and deburr or file down any excess powder coating to ensure a proper fit.
