A Supreme Court justice murdered—and Tom Berte is the only lifeline for the accused. Comfortably settled into a civil law practice in Albany, Tom Berte has finally left behind the conspiracies and threats of his past. But when a shocking murder strikes the Supreme Court, Madison Redding reaches out with a desperate plea for help, and Tom can’t ignore her call. A young Supreme Court clerk accused of killing Tom’s former mentor, Madison swears she’s innocent; the victim of a ruthless set-up carefully engineered to frame her as the perfect culprit. Reluctantly stepping into criminal defense for the first time, Tom swiftly finds himself maneuvering through Washington’s hidden corridors of political power and personal betrayal. Influential lobbyists, jealous spouses, and ruthless operatives close ranks, determined to protect their dark secrets at any cost. With each revelation pushing Tom deeper into unfamiliar moral territory, he becomes trapped between defending Madison and safeguarding the peaceful life he’s carefully rebuilt.
