Monstera Adansonii, the Swiss cheese plant, is a species of flowering plant native to tropical forests of southern Mexico, south to Panama. The leaves on young plants are smaller with holes, similar to the Swiss Cheese, from which its name is derived. Although it can grow very tall, it only measures between 2 and 3 m (6.6 and 9.8 ft) when grown indoors. The leaves are medium (up to 8″ or 10cm wide), heart-shaped and pinnate. The older the plant, the more the leaves are covered with its familiar large perforations. These starter plants are 12+ inches tall when we ship them bare roots. Pictures used for this web store depict mature plants of the correct species. Once planted, keep the ground moist for two weeks, then water weekly. If it rains 1/2 inch or so, it takes that week off from watering. Do not fertilize for two months, then use only slow-release fertilizer like Osmocote.
