Details Date: Friday, September 18, 2026 Time: Noon-2:00 p.m. Eastern time Location: Zoom—this is a virtual event. The class will be recorded, and participants will have access to watch and re-watch for as long as they like. Your order confirmation email will include a PDF download with the Zoom link, and we will send email reminders the week of the workshop. The Class Over the course of two hours Kim will be sharing her best tips and tricks to achieve a sweater that fits you beautifully. Topics will include: Define Your Sweater Style: Identify design details to choose better sweaters for your body and personal style. Sweater Fabric: Many of us struggle with gauge. Learn how to create consistent sweater fabric, and what to do when your gauge doesn’t match the designer’s. Ease: Demystify ease and learn how to choose eases for your whole body–not just the chest. Choosing a Size: Learn the most important measurements for sweater fit, how to apply that information to sweater measurements to choose the best size for you, and how to build a “hybrid size” when your measurements span more than one size. Structure: What to look for to make sweaters that wear well and last. Materials to bring Measuring tape large enough to go around your full chest/bust and hips. Wear a light layer such as a t-shirt or tank top if you wish to take a few measurements in class. Pen or pencil to mark up your pattern as needed. Calculator (phone or tablet calculator is fine). This will be used for simple arithmetic when determining ideal finished measurements. Optional: Bring a pattern you want to knit, so you can refer to it through the class and make your sweater plan. For best results, your pattern should have a schematic OR a full list of finished measurements (chest/bust, hem, bicep, and armhole/yoke depth at a minimum). The Book Kim’s long-awaited new book is here! It’s The Knitter’s Sweater Fitting Bible: The Complete Practical Guide to Making Sweaters That Fit Every Body. The book is not required for this workshop, but it is a great reference and companion for this virtual workshop, so we brought in some copies for the MDK Shop. Click here to order your copy.
