SURREY ICON TEE

A photograph of my grandmother arriving at her cabin in West Virginia, reimagined on our signature boxy tee. Introducing the first Surrey Icon Tee. I remember seeing this photograph at my grandmother's house years ago. Although it was taken long before I was born, it always felt nostalgic and familiar. It brought back my own childhood memories of driving through the river onto my grandparents' property, surrounded by the rolling hills and horses from neighboring Camp Rimrock. When I started designing The Surrey, I kept coming back to this image and the feeling of being in those bucolic hills of West Virginia. At the time, everyone was impeccably dressed in Washington, DC, but the style that stayed with me was what my grandmother and her friends wore at their Bending River farm in Orange, Virginia, and at this charming little cabin in Capon Springs, West Virginia. The uniform was perfectly simple—timeless, elegant, and functional. Polos with crisp collars, perfectly worn cotton tees, scarves tied around the neck or over the hair, relaxed trousers finished with a beautiful belt, soft hats, cardigans, flannels, and denim. Pieces that looked even better after a day spent outdoors. Years later, I was finally able to track down the original photograph from the album that had captivated me for so long. Together with our incredible tailor and artist, Lucas, we carefully recreated it using a high-quality Direct-to-Garment (DTG) application on our favorite signature boxy tee. Handmade in Los Angeles in a small-batch production, we're so excited to introduce the very first Surrey Icon Tee.
