Long nicknamed a "stone of the sun," it's associated in crystal tradition with confidence, optimism, and the sacral chakra, tied to personal power and vitality. Many people keep a tower among other balance and wellness stones or as a bright, energizing accent for the home. See our Sunstone Tumbled Stone for a smaller, pocket-size piece. How to use it Stand the tower upright on a desk, shelf, or altar where natural or lamp light can hit its facets and bring out the sparkle. Some people keep it in a workspace as a visual reminder of confidence and momentum, or simply enjoy it as a bright, cheerful display piece. Care & cleansing Sunstone is moderately hard (Mohs 6-6.5) and tolerates a quick rinse under cool water and a gentle wipe with a soft cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, prolonged soaking, and sudden temperature changes, which can stress the polished surface. To cleanse its energy in tradition, try sunlight, sound, or resting it near other sacral-chakra stones. Frequently asked questions What is sunstone and what is it used for? Sunstone is a feldspar known for its sparkly shimmer, traditionally associated with the sacral chakra and confidence. It's a decorative and symbolic piece, not a medical device, and isn't a substitute for professional care. What causes the sparkle in sunstone? The glitter, called aventurescence, comes from tiny hematite or goethite platelets inside the feldspar that reflect light as the stone is turned. Where does this sunstone tower come from? This piece is sourced from India, one of several regions where gem-quality sunstone with strong aventurescence is found. What chakra is sunstone associated with? In crystal tradition it is most often linked to the sacral chakra, associated with vitality, confidence, and personal power. Is sunstone durable for everyday display? Yes, at Mohs 6-6.5 it's reasonably durable, though it should still be kept away from hard knocks and abrasive surfaces that could scratch the polish. How do I cleanse and care for a sunstone tower? A quick rinse and soft cloth wipe are usually enough; avoid harsh chemicals, and cleanse its energy with sunlight or sound rather than prolonged salt exposure.
