Sunova Placid SUP

The PLACID is something a little different; Do you have a quiet or shy brother who is a complete mad dog when you get to know him. I do. This board is the Acids maddog brother. To look at it looks kinda tame with it’s wider nose. But look closer, get to know it. It has a quite a lot of rocker, fine rails, performance bottom contours. The placid is just it’s name. Not it’s character.   Two Construction Options: TR3-technically (Paulownia Wood) XXX-tec (Balsa Wood) Sizes: 7'3" x 19" x 27" x 17 1/16" x 3 3/4"  79.4 Litres Volume  7.5 kg Weight 7'7" x 19 5/16" x 28" x 17 3/8" x 3 15/16"   90.3 Litres Volume.  7.8 kg Weight 7'11" x 19 15/16" x 29 1/2" x 17 15/16" x 4 1/16"   102.8 Litres Volume  8.5 kg Weight 8'3" x 20 1/4" x 30 1/2" x 18 3/16" x 4 1/8"   112.5 Litres Volume   8.8 kg Weight 8'7" x 20 1/2" x 31 1/2" x 18 1/2" x 4 1/4"   125.1 Litres Volume   9.2 kg Weight 8'10" x 20 11/16" x 32 1/4" x 18 11/16" x 4 3/8"   135.3 Litres Volume   9.5 kg Weight 9'1" x 20 15/16" x 33" x 18 7/8" x 4 1/2"   146.8 Litres Volume   10 kg Weight 9'4" x 20 15/16" x 33 1/2" x 18 15/16" x 4 9/16"   155.1 Litre Volume   10.5 kg Weight 9'7" x 21" x 34" x 19 1/16" x 4 13/16"   170.3 Litres Volume   11 kg WeightABOUT THE BOARD GENERAL GOAL | THEME OF THE BOARD High performance board made for a wide range of conditions packed into a stable outline WAVE TYPE ||| SIZE IT'S WORKING BEST Small to well over head. Just swap to a bigger rear fin in bigger hollow waves. MANEUVERS IT DOES BEST Everything you like to do on your performance sup. SKILL LEVEL IT'S BEST FOR Novice to Advanced, Just choose size according to level. PADDLE POWER SPEED: Average.  DIRECTIONAL CONTROL: Yaw expected in surf sups. Always size dependent. OVER WHITE WATER: Excellent.. WAVE CATCHING ABILITY: Pretty standard. Wider front half give a little more glide but this board has a  performance oriented rocker which slows glide a little bit makes later drops possible WHAT YOU THOUGHT OF WHEN YOU DESIGNED IT? I wanted a stable board that didn’t compromise on performance. I got the stability from the wider nose. The tail is fairly narrow and plenty of outline curve combined with a lot of rocker and thin rails makes tight performance turns in the pocket easy. The extra rocker in the tail helps to ride out of critical turns in the pocket without catching the wider nose by shifting weight over the tail. Bigger sides and smaller rear give it a little more pivot in smaller surf. If you want to use this board in bigger waves then just replace rear with bigger fin for more hold and drive. WHAT IT POSSIBLY COMPROMISES ON THEN? Wider nose takes some adjusting to. Can be harder to ride out of in critical turns off the lip until you get used to really weighting the tail.
