Sun Lamp Decaf

Sun Lamp Decaf from Portland's Tandem Coffee Roasters proves that decaffeinated coffee doesn't have to be a compromise. Using the ethyl acetate (EA) process—a natural method derived from sugarcane—this coffee retains the sweetness and complexity that typically disappear in conventional decafs. The result is a cup that tastes like coffee, not an apology for coffee. Sourced from quality origins and roasted with Tandem's exacting standards, Sun Lamp delivers a surprisingly vibrant profile that stands up to any time of day or night. Tasting NotesExpect layers of marshmallow sweetness, graham cracker warmth, and a bright pop of green grape acidity. The body is round and approachable—not thin or hollow like many decafs—with a clean, lingering finish that invites another sip. There's no chemical aftertaste, no muted flatness. Just honest, comforting coffee flavor that happens to let you sleep. Brew MethodsSun Lamp shines across the board. As espresso, it pulls sweet and balanced with a creamy texture that works beautifully in milk drinks—think decaf cappuccinos that don't taste like regret. For pour over (V60, Chemex), use a medium grind and slower pour to highlight those graham cracker and grape notes. In a French press, it develops a fuller body and cozy sweetness. Even as cold brew, Sun Lamp stays bright and clean, making it a rare decaf that excels in every format.
